2014 Corvette C7 vs 2015 Mustang Shelby GT500
Time is ticking before we see new 2015 Mustang, whose debut is set for December 5. Awaited with temptation, it will shake not only US market, but both European and Asian. In shadow of Ford’s icon, another American company prepared the answer to new Mustang. Another legendary car for 70’s, Chevrolet is coming into 2014 with Corvette Stingray C7.
2014 Corvette C7 engine
The 2014 Corvette C7 will be powered by 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood. Dubbed the LT1, this engine will make 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque in base models. This will make the C7 the most powerful standard Corvette up to date. The new 2014 Corvette C7 will top C6, both in acceleration to 100 km/h, which was under 4 sec, and fuel economy, which is 26-mpg EPA highway for C6 model. Two exhaust systems are available. Standard exhaust uses its active valves to tame noise during four-cylinder cruising. An optional dual-mode system has extra valves that open a less-restricted path for airflow to both increase performance and sound.
Engine will be paired with a six-speed automatic or seven-speed Tremec manual. Base model could be upgraded with a Z51 performance package which will bring you closer gear ratios for the manual gearbox, dry-sump lubrication to prevent oil starvation in racetrack settings, additional cooling for the brakes, larger brakes; and aerodynamic bits to increase high-speed stability. Wheels at Z51 packages are 19-by-8.5-inch front and 20-by-10-inch rear wheels and tires. Standard wheels are sized 18-by-8.5- and 19-by-10-inch.
2014 Corvette C7 change
Previous Corvette generations used smooth fiberglass bodywork for their surface, but the new C7 is different. First thin that can be saw are squared-off tail lamps. Sinewy sheet metal creases, vents and a rear spoiler gives to the vehicle fresh and modern look. Hydroformed aluminum chassis changed steel one, and the new C7 is lighter than its predecessor C6 for 99 pounds. Hood is made of carbon fiber, with the rear quarter panels where fiberglass was changed. Roof panel on Corvette C7 is removable.
Wooden dashboard make this car look marvelous. It was pronounced driver bias thanks to the central passenger grab handle. Steering wheel faces well spaced legroom. The gauge cluster is dominated by an eight-inch screen flanked by analog speedometer, oil temperature and gas gauges. Standard seats are improved, but could be switched by seats offered in some extra packages. However, eight-way power adjustability comes standard in base seats. The Corvette C7 also features backup camera, keyless entry/start, power tilt/telescope wheel, head-up display, Bose touchscreen audio with SiriusXM, MyLink connectivity and OnStar turn-by-turn directions.
Price tag for this legend should be around $51,995 for start.
